Leading Edge is a California based sustainability consultancy, specializing in green building certification and best practices. Originally grown out of building operations and energy assessments, our services have expanded over the past 15 years to include new building design and construction, as well as educational and ESG based services. We are 100% remote with built-in flexibility from the start. POSITION SUMMARY

Intern’s primary responsibility will be to support the New Construction Team in completing an ILFI RedList project. Intern will be provided with an orientation and the resources needed to conduct research and utilize programs effectively. Prior experience with ILFI may be helpful, however is not necessary.   

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

    • Input of product data into the Red2Green platform. 
    • Outreach to product vendors to request information unavailable online.  
    • Research to determine product/materials compliance with RedList criteria. 

Intern may also be requested to support additional project-based and operational efforts, depending on need. 

Secondary Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

    • Life-Cycle Analysis (LCA) research 
    • Asset and portfolio data monitoring 
    • Support growing services through research

We are seeking an assortment of talent to diversify our collective approach. Ideal skillsets include: 

    • A forward-thinking, ownership mentality 
    • Completed or pursuing Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Sustainability Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Planning (urban/transportation/environmental planning, urban design), Building Operations (facility management, property management), or demonstrated competency through a combination of another degree not listed and years of experience with sustainable design 
    • Eager to learn and support LEED, WELL, ENERGY STAR, SITES, Fitwel, Living Building Challenge and/or other sustainability systems certification process(es) on commercial projects 
    • Excellent people skills and the ability to coordinate and collaborate with various disciplines and stakeholders. 
    • Strong writing skills, organizational skills and/or technical presentation ability. 
    • Sustainability credential(s) such as LEED Green Associate, LEED AP, WELL AP, SITES, Living Future Accreditation, or Fitwel Ambassador. 

PREFERRED PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • Strong interpersonal skills that quickly build trust with team based on professional credibility, proactive listening, and friendliness. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to see trends and troubleshoot with limited information available, based on inherent knowledge, confidence, and expertise. 
  • Team player who is willing to engage in company activities, contribute to company culture and help develop the skills of junior staff. 
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges. 

COMPENSATION

The hourly rate for this job performed in California is $18$21 depending on applicant experience and credentials.Please note hiring ranges for candidates outside of California may vary due to cost-of-living differences.

Staff are encouraged to leverage in person office set up – based in downtown Los Angeles, Oakland and Roseville. Optional, but not required.
